Timescales
The first visit is FOC and it’s where we find out what you do and a little about how you do it! This enables us to produce a Workplace Inspection and from that a draft Action Plan prioritising safety issues. We’ll also indicate where any existing safety systems can be made simpler and more effective.
Of course, our visit could conclude with us simply congratulating you on a safe and healthy workplace with everything in place and you don’t really need our help! In that case, peace of mind has cost you nothing more than a phone call and a little time!
In the event that we both agree that there are a number of safety issues we can help you with, we’ll draft a Risk Assessment Plan on our next visit showing what we’ll do in the next 6 – 12 months. With the Risk Assessment Plan in place we can draft a Work-Plan which is the basis of our billing and provides a useful forward estimate of our charges.

Costs
Our fees will depend on whether:
The company wants to build up its own in-house expertise, which means that as we introduce each part of the Risk Assessment Plan we’ll train and mentor someone in the company, so that Risk Assessment and the Quarterly Inspections will gradually become an in-house function.
OR
The company prefers a regular programme of supported on-site quarterly inspections and our help to keep the business on top of its Risk Assessment Plan, while at the same time mentoring people to develop a better understanding of risk assessment.
In either case, fees are charged pro rata at a rate of £450.00 per day.
e.g. Initially, a small office-based company with 1 or 2 company cars, a pool car and/or a grey fleet (use of own cars on business) would typically require about 5 – 6 days that could be spread over 6+ months. Further visits would most likely follow a quarterly pattern.
Larger organisations e.g. with warehousing and/or a fleet etc. would see a scaling-up of the support required and typically we’d be estimating some 9- 10 days initially spread over perhaps 6 to 12 months. Obviously, the more employees, the type of work activities and the size of the infrastructure will all impact on our fees. Further visits would again follow a quarterly pattern
Invoices are always presented with a Work-Plan that shows how we’ve spent our time on and off site for the client.
