HSE Spot Checks and Inspections Continue
The HSE has again broadcast that “HSE Spot Checks and inspections continue across the country. Every business we contact must be able to demonstrate how they are managing COVID risks to protect their workers and others.”
How many shops do you walk into that have not even made the effort to do something as simple as refill their hand sanitising stations? It’s surprising how many businesses have not completed a basic Covid Risk Assessment. A red flag to any inspector who will then start to look at what else you don’t done. The HSE has 6 steps of guidance to effectively manage COVID which it expects you to have completed.
- Complete a Risk Assessment.
- Cleaning, hygiene & hand washing.
- Ventilation.
- Communicate with your work force.
- Work from home where you can.
- Consider vulnerable workers
Risk Assessments should also be reviewed periodically or after significant change – which in this case does not mean once a year!
